I apologise if this isn't the right thread, but I have a question. ČSD had sleeping cars similar to these, and I was once told that sometimes their cars were used between Moscow and various European cities instead of the SZD cars. Is there any truth in that statement? Or is it based on some kind of a misunderstanding?

You are near a true understanding. It is alike, but it is a bit different cars.

Compare it:



And your's:



1. climatic unit;
2. akk. battery box;
3. windows, roof and inner equipment...
4. brake units;
5. couplings...
etc. ...

Well, I did say similar, not identical. Though, I think they had nearly identical cars as well. But I'm still curious about the statement that ČSD sleepers were used between Moscow and destinations in other parts of Europe.

Don't apologize, those questions are normal.
Do compare these cars, step-by step. Cause if you need to rebuild modell of ChSD-car to SZD-car.
If you plan to collect the SZD-train as well as Moscow-Prague (1980-90th years), or alike; you can use 1-2 CSD-cars with 3-4 SZD-cars and electric locomotive ChS7 (ЧС7) in the green+light-green livery; with numbers range of locomotive depot Moscow-Kievskaya.
